Oman: Life sentence for prisoner of conscience

Between August and November 2018, Oman sentenced six individuals to life in prison on vague grounds of national security. Recently Amnesty International obtained more details about the trial and its background which establish that the defendant Mohammed Abdullah al-Shahi has been imprisoned solely for peacefully exercising his right to freedom of expression and association. He is therefore a prisoner of conscience, and Amnesty International calls for his immediate and unconditional release.
