Americas: Enforced disappearances in limbo: the human cost of repressive cooperation between the US and El Salvador

The recent expulsion of Venezuelan nationals from the United States to a Salvadoran mega-prison known as CECOT (Terrorism Confinement Centre) reveals a worrying alliance between the two governments. Amnesty International warns against the consolidation of arbitrary deprivation of liberty policies as a shared strategy for tackling crime, to the detriment of due process and human rights. Amnesty International denounces the repressive cooperation between the authorities of El Salvador and the US and calls for an end to the normalization of institutional violence as a model for security.
