This submission was prepared for the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of Iraq in January-February 2025 In it, Amnesty International evaluates the implementation of recommendations made to Iraq in its previous review, including in relation to women’s rights, the rights of internally displaced persons (IDPs), investigation of allegations of torture and other ill-treatment in detention centres, the use of excessive force to quell protests, enforced disappearance, and the death penalty.
