Amnesty International is reiterating its request to the Cuban Government to immediately carry out a full and impartial investigation into the circumstances in which at least 35 men, women and children attempting to leave Cuba illegaly on board the “13 de Marzo” tugboat lost their lives when the vessel sank three years ago. AI has received compelling evidence, including eyewitness testimony from several of the survivors, some of whom are now living abroad, indicating that those on board the three Transport Ministry vessels which pursued the tugboat employed excessive force disproportionate to the actual situation.
