Jordan: New Cybercrimes Law stifles freedom of expression

One year ago today, on 13 August 2023, Jordan enacted Law No. 17, introducing major amendments to its existing Cybercrimes Law of 2015. The new law expanded the scope of criminal offenses with new provisions which unduly restrict the right to freedom of expression and contravene Jordan’s obligations under international human rights law.
