Honourable Chairperson,
Amnesty International welcomes this opportunity to address the African Commission during its 87th ordinary session. In this statement, we seek to provide an update on the implementation of the Commission’s Resolution 645 on the Obligations of African States in the Context of the Externalization of Migration Governance and the Extra-Regional Transfer of Migrants to Africa.
At least nine African States have received or agreed to receive third country nationals from the United States of America (US): Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Equatorial Guinea, Eswatini, Ghana, Liberia, Rwanda, South Sudan, and Uganda.
