Americas: Unequal and Lethal: Five keys to recovering from the human rights crisis unleashed by the pandemic in Latin America and the Caribbean

This joint report by Amnesty International and the Center for Economic and Social Rights documents the lethal impact that COVID-19 has had on people in Latin America and the Caribbean due to the region’s systemic inequalities and the vulnerability of its economic and social model, and its weak public finances. It also analyses the crises deepened by COVID-19 from a human rights perspective and consequently demonstrates that many of the region’s structural problems are also human rights violations. Finally, it offers solutions based on states’ international obligations.
