USA: Rights for all: “Not part of my sentence” Violations of the human rights of women in custody

This document, produced as part of the USA campaign, gives details of the human rights abuses suffered by women in custody for breaking criminal laws. These abuses include the use of restraints, poor health provision, sexual abuse by prison staff and the isolation of women held in high security units. This is a more detailed version of the shorter report “USA: “Not part of my sentence” : Violations of the human rights of women in custody” (AMR 51/19/99) published earlier this month.
