This is Amnesty International oral statement on the outcome of the third Universal Period Review of Algeria (UN Human Rights Council’s 36th session, 21-22 September 2017) in which it raises concerns about restrictions on freedom of expression, association and religion. The organization also expresses its regrets about the authorities’ denial of long-standing requests to visit Algeria by the UN Special Procedures or to grant visas to international human rights organizations, including Amnesty International.
