Algeria: Human Rights Council adopts Universal Periodic Review outcome on Algeria

This is Amnesty International oral statement on the outcome of the third Universal Period Review of Algeria (UN Human Rights Council’s 36th session, 21-22 September 2017) in which it raises concerns about restrictions on freedom of expression, association and religion. The organization also expresses its regrets about the authorities’ denial of long-standing requests to visit Algeria by the UN Special Procedures or to grant visas to international human rights organizations, including Amnesty International.
