Israel and the Occupied Territories: Selective Objectors: Lior Ovshani and Amiel Vardy
Lior Ovshani, aged 18 years and reserve Sergeant-Major Amiel Vardy, a postgraduate student in the Theatre Studies Department of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, are both currently in prison for refusing to carry out military service. Both have reportedly given as their reason their opposition to current Israel Defence Force (IDF) practice in the Occupied Territories.
