In this open letter, more than 160 organizations including Amnesty International, representing a wide range of civil society and Indigenous Peoples constituencies, call for an ambitious and fair decision on the Active Observer policy for the UNFCCC’s Fund for responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD). SUch a decision, based on inclusive consultations is an important stepping stone towards a people-centered Fund. With this letter, the signatories call on the FRLD board members to be bold and ambitious, and not to conflate the human right to participation with elevating for-profit private sector engagement.
