Based on an analysis of dozens of cases of arrests during a demonstration in Paris on 12 December 2020, it raises the alert about situations of arbitrary deprivation of liberty. It recalls Amnesty International’s recommendations regarding French practices and laws, and the need for them to comply with international human rights law, particularly the requirements relating to protecting the right to protest.
