Israel and the Occupied Territories: ‘Iyad ‘Ali Muhammad Haddad – Administrative detention

The above-named, a field worker with the human rights organization al-Haq, was arrested on 12 September 1990 and served with a four-month administrative detention order on 18 September. At an appeal hearing against the detention order it was alleged that ‘Iyad Haddad had participated in disturbances of the peace, including one at Qadura Refugee Camp. ‘Iyad Haddad rejected the charge. THe appeal judge reduced the order by one month and 17 days. AI believes that ‘Iyad Haddad is a prisoner of conscience, detained solely on account of his work for al-Haq and is calling for his immediate and unconditional release.
