In this joint letter, 225 organizations including Amnesty International, express concern about a letter from UNFCCC Executive Secretary Simon Stiell to the Government of Brazil and its negative consequences for human rights, particularly the right to peaceful protest at COP30 in Belem, Brazil. It urges an immediate reversal of these consequences and public acknowledgement of the role of Indigenous Peoples in preserving the environment, their central role in maintaining climate balance and a commitment to upholding their rights, and the rights of all to
peacefully protest at all UNFCCC meetings.
