A delegation of Kurdish women (members of the Peace Mothers Initiative) from eastern Turkey have reportedly been tortured and ill-treated, after they travelled to the Kurdish region in North Iraq to mediate in the civil conflict. They have been sexually abused by gendarmerie, as well as otherwise tortured and ill-treated. They are still in custody.
