Colombia: “Enough is enough!”: Repression of human rights defenders: update no 2

This report highlights cases of continuing attacks and threats to human rights defenders by members of the Colombian security forces, their paramilitary allies and armed opposition groups, all operating with impunity. These include the attempted killing on 5 March of Pablo Javier Arenales, a member of the Corporación Regional para la Defensa de los Derechos Humanos; the abduction by AUC on 21 May of Piedad Córdoba de Castro, the president of the Senate’s Human Rights Commission; the abduction and murder by FARC on 25 February 1999 of three USA indigenous rights activists; and the continued threats against human rights lawyers.
