In this public statement Amnesty International calls on states to phase out of fossil fuels and says that the oil and gas price rises resulting from Russia’s invasion should not be used as an excuse to increase fossil fuel exploration, use and production, but rather is an additional reason to move to renewables and energy efficiency. It also announces and explains Amnesty’s support for a fossil fuel non-proliferation treaty.
