Saudi Arabia: Dissident voices stifled in the Eastern Province

Par Amnesty International, , N° d'index: MDE 23/011/2012

Demonstrations have been taking place in Saudi Arabia’s predominantly Shi’a Muslim Eastern Province since February 2011. The Saudi Arabian authorities have responded with repressive measures against those suspected of taking part in or supporting protests or of expressing views critical of the state. Amnesty International is concerned that the measures taken by the Saudi Arabian authorities amount to a pattern of widespread human rights violations against individuals exercising their rights to freedom of expression and assembly in the Eastern Province.
