Clarence Lackey, who was scheduled to be executed on 28 April 1995, was granted a last minute stay of execution by the US Supreme Court. Their stay was granted so that the Court could consider whether the almost 17 years Lackey has spent on death row constitutes cruel and unusual punishment.
