Despite important political and economic reforms in Myanmar, people continue to be arrested simply for exercising their rights to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly.
There are still prisoners of conscience (POCs) in the country. They must immediately and unconditionally be released ahead of the upcoming general elections on 8 November.
