Federal Republic of Yugoslavia: Further information on torture and unfair trial of Muslims in the Sandzak Region: Harun Hadzic and co-defendants pardoned by the President of Montenegro

Harun Hadzic, Erdzan Fetahovic, Rifat Veskovic, Hakija Muratovic, Isat Skenderovic, Sefket Brkovic, Rizah Burnazovic, Rasim Sahman, Omer Omerovic, Mevludin Kasumovic, Umer Hadzic, Avdo Ciguljin, Sabahet Spahic, Ibrahim Cikic, Esad Omerovic, Husein Smakic, Dzevad Begovic, Sead Bibuljica, Sead Pucurica, Sendad Pucurica, Sefket Bosnjak: On 19 December 1995 the above men, Muslims from the Sandzak region of Montenegro were pardoned by the President. Seven of them who were in detention were released. They had been sentenced in December 1994 to between two and seven years’ imprisonment after an unfair trial. There remains concern that allegations that they were subjected to torture or ill-treatment and that they were forced to make self-incriminating statements, have not been investigated.
