Every year on 17 August, the anniversary of Indonesian independence, prisoners in Indonesia are formally notified of reductions in their sentences. Amnesty International is calling on the Indonesian Government to observe the 17 August holiday this year by releasing all prisoners of conscience and commuting all death sentences.
