Senegal: Failing to Live up to its Promises: Recommendations on the eve of the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights’ review of Senegal

This document outlines a number of issues of concern relating to Senegal’s implementation of the Concluding Observations made by the African Commission during its 2003 Review and its implementation of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights (African Charter). The report focuses on Amnesty International’s ongoing key concerns, including: torture and other ill-treatment, discrimination, death penalty, freedom of expression, excessive use of force when policing demonstrations and impunity for human rights violations committed during the Casamance conflict.
