In 1984, a toxic gas leak in the central Indian city of Bhopal killed and maimed tens of thousands of people, one of the world’s worst industrial disasters. Thirty years later, that tragedy has turned into an ongoing human rights travesty. In this document Amnesty International is asking the Indian government to make sure that survivors of the gas leak get the compensation they deserve and the medical treatment they need. The government is urged it to urgently clean up the Bhopal site, ultimately making the companies responsible for the pollution foot the bill.
