In this submission Amnesty International assesses the implementation of a number of recommendations that Eritrea previously accepted, including in relation to freedom expression and association and freedom of religion and belief, prisoners of conscience, political prisoners, rights of returnees, ratification of UN human rights treaties, and cooperation with the UN Special Procedures and treaty bodies. Amnesty International also sets out its concerns about the use of arbitrary detention, prison conditions, restrictions to freedom of expression, indefinite national service conscription and the conscription of child soldiers.
