Kyrgyzstan: Submission to the UN Universal Periodic Review: Eighth session of the UPR Working Group of the Human Rights Council, May 2010

In this submission, Amnesty International provides information as stipulated in the General Guidelines for the Preparation of Information under the Universal Periodic Review. The organization describes concerns related to restrictions on freedom of expression and assembly, allegations of torture or other ill-treatment of detainees by law enforcement officials, and failure to consistently, effectively investigate such allegations; and other human rights violations in the context of national security and the fight against terrorism, especially in relation to refugees and asylum-seekers as well as religious minorities.
