Nature Conservation and Cultural Rights Submission to the UN Special Rapporteur in the Field of Cultural Rights

This is a submission to the call by the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Cultural Rights, Alexandra Xanthaki, for her report on the intersections between nature conservation and cultural rights. The organization provides examples from its research that illustrate the importance of respecting Indigenous Peoples’ right to promote and protect their relationship with – and as part of – nature, which is central to their right to culture. The submission also argues that we can only combat green colonialism if we support all societies, globally, to strengthen their connection to nature as part of their right to participate in culture.
