Amnesty International welcomes Ukraine’s passing of laws aimed at providing better protection for victims and imposing penalties on the perpetrators. However, this is just a first step and the laws require effective implementation. The organization welcomes Ukraine’s acceptance of recommendations to ensure the early ratification and implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence.
