Qatar: No extra time: How Qatar is still failing on workers’ rights ahead of the World Cup

Four years after winning the right to host the World Cup, and more than a year since the systemic abuse of migrant workers hit the headlines around the world, Qatar’s government has not taken the credible steps required to tackle widespread labour exploitation. Qatari officials have increasingly acknowledged the reality of abuses against migrant workers, and – crucially – that they need to address the issue but time is running out.
