In the COVID-19 outbreak, the global community is facing one of the most challenging crises for decades. This is a global crisis that needs to be addressed with clear, fair, coordinated and concrete measures that ensure the protection of economic and social rights of all without discrimination. In this joint statement, Amnesty International, Civicus and Transparency International call on G20 governments and other relevant actors to ensure that all COVID-19 responses are in compliance with international human rights law and standards, particularly ensuring access to information, open civic space and media freedom, and transparency in decision making.
