Across Southern Africa, people living in poverty, particularly marginalized groups, migrants and young people, are being denied many of their human rights, such as the right to an adequate standard of living, food, clean water, sanitation, housing, health and education. They also face discrimination and violence. Governments are falling short on their commitments to protect civil and political rights.
Amnesty International in Southern Africa works to prevent human rights abuses and hold governments and corporates accountable for their actions. We work closely with the worldwide Amnesty movement and with local civil society organizations, partners and individual rights holders.
