In this report Amnesty International, as part of its global campaign against torture, is publishing a set of recommendations for the prevention of torture in India. The document focuses on the reasons why torture and ill-treatment continue in India; and its’ recommendations include identifying the need for institutional changes within the criminal justice system — including reform of the police, as well as several legislative changes.
