This submission was prepared for the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of Malawi in May 2020. In it, Amnesty International evaluates the implementation of recommendations made to Malawi in its previous UPR, including in relation to attacks against persons with albinism, unlawful killings by members of security forces, and attacks against human rights defenders. It also assesses the national human rights framework with regard to the shrinking space for civil society.
