USA: Single day, double standards

In 6 March 2007, the US Department of State released its annual report on human rights in other countries. Five hours later, the Department of Defence announced the start of Combatant Status Review Tribunals for the 14 detainees transferred in September 2006 from years of secret CIA custody to the US Naval Base at Guantánamo Bay. The double standards must end and the USA must bring its detention and interrogtion laws, policies and practices fully into compliance with international laws and standards.
