In this presentation by Alice Edwards, Refugee and Migrants’ Rights Officer, to the Canadian Council for Refugees, International Refugee Rights Conference: Panel on Gender Violence and Refugees June 2006, Toronto, Amnesty International states its belief that it is fundamental to refugee protection to keep the standards and policies being developed at the international level in mind when working at regional, national and local levels, and, equally importantly, for AI and other international non-governmental organisations to keep the realities of the field at the centre of discussions on refugee protection generally and in relation to gender violence in particular.
