Syria: Druze armed group should immediately release humanitarian worker abducted 3 months ago

Amnesty International calls on Druze armed group in Suwayda to disclose the fate and whereabouts of rescue worker Hamza al-Amareen and to immediately release him to his family. On 16 July 2025, the Syria Civil Defence, a search and rescue humanitarian organization, dispatched Hamza al-Amareen, born in 1992 and head of the Emergency Response Center in Daraa, to Suwayda city in response to a UN call for assistance following clashes between Syrian government forces and Druze armed groups that had erupted the day before.
