Iran: Oral intervention by Amnesty International and Südwind at the 22nd session of the UN Human Rights Council

In this joint statement, the NGOs express their concern that discriminatory selection procedures for candidates, as well as restrictions of the freedoms of expression, assembly and associations, mean that the 2013 presidential election will not be fair or free. Other concerns raised include widespread and systematic torture; public executions and amputations; discrimination against women, lesbians, gays, bisexual and transgender persons and the persecution of religious and ethnic minorities.
