Since October 2021, Belgium has consistently failed to meet its human rights obligations under international law to provide housing and other essential goods and services to asylum seekers. For over two years, the state’s failure has resulted in people seeking international protection, including children, being denied any form of accommodation and left destitute. Amnesty International urges the Belgian authorities to take all possible measures, in order to adequately respect, protect and fulfil the rights of asylum seekers and to comply with the court rulings ordering Belgium to provide adequate accommodation.
