Iran: Medical concern: Arrests of prisoners of conscience in Iran

This paper reports AI’s concern for the well-being of more than 20 people, arrested in Iran in June 1990 after signing an open letter critical of the government. Some of those arrested are members of the Association for the Defence of Freedom and Sovreignty of the Iranian Nation (ADFSIN); others belonged to the Freedom Movement of Iran. At least eight of the prisoners are said to suffer ill-health or require medical attention. They are: Ali Ardalan, Hossein Bani Assadi, Hossein Shah-Hosseini, Abolfazl Mirshams Shahshahani, Hormoz Momaiezi, Dr Noor-Ali Tabandeh, Hashem Sabbaghian, and Dr Habibollah Davaran. Some are believed to be held in Teheran’s Evin Prison, while others are believed to be detained at the Ministry of Intelligence, Toopkhaneh Square.
