On 15 January 2018, the Court of Cassation upheld the two-year prison sentence against human rights defender and prisoner of conscience Nabeel Rajab, for interviews he gave in 2015 and 2016. In a separate case against him in relation to comments posted on his Twitter account, the Criminal Court heard his final defence pleading and scheduled its verdict for 21 February.
