Amnesty International is concerned for the safety of 20 people, including one minor, who have been detained by Mexican soliders, during anti-drug raids on two communities in Tamaulipas state. Detainess are frequently ill-treated or tortured in order to obtain evidence subsequently used by the prosecution to secure a conviction.
