India: Time to act to stop torture and impunity in West Bengal
This report gives evidence of widespread abuse of police powers in West Bengal, including illegal detention, corruption, extortion, and torture and ill-treatment - highlighting several cases which demonstrate these patterns. The report also sets out a series of recommendations for the Government of West Bengal, police officials, judicial officers and members of civil society, to end the practice of torture in the state.
