In this letter from the Secretary General, AI draws atttention to the case of retired teacher and Turkish human rights defender, Mehmet Gokalp, who after years of death threats, torture and ill-treatment in detention, now faces possible imprisonment for serious charges, which do not appear to be well-supported evidentially. AI requests the assistance of the OSCE’s ambassadors to raise Mehmet Gokalp’s case in a suitable forum.
