Spain: More than words. Making protection and justice a reality for women who suffer gender based violence in the home

In this report, Amnesty International examines the extent to which the Spanish State complies with its duty to protect women’s human rights and, in particular, the authorities’ obligation to exercise due diligence with regard to gender-based violence in the home. The report includes several case histories. Although there has been new legislation, the organization remains concerned about the existence of approaches, prejudice, mechanisms and discriminatory practices that may continue to have a bearing on the work of civil servants and officials to the detriment of women’s human rights.
