Eight years since the bloodshed and violence in Aceh ended, victims and survivors of abuses committed during 29-years of violence are still waiting for the government to establish the truth about what happened to them. Enforced disappearance, torture, sexual violence and other serious human rights abuses were committed by both sides of the conflict – crimes which have gone largely unpunished. Demands for truth, justice and reparation are gathering momentum. Ultimately, the authorities must listen and act.
