Where is Humphrey Polepole?  

Humphrey Polepole disappeared after being abducted from his home. Sign the petition and demand answers for his family from the Tanzanian authorities.

What’s the problem?

On the night of 6 October 2025, Humphrey Polepole disappeared. Unidentified men, believed to be state security agents, abducted the former diplomat from his home in Dar es Salaam. When his family arrived, they found the front door forced open and a significant amount of blood inside the house. 

Humphrey has not been seen or heard from since. 

His family are living every day without answers. His elderly mother calls out for him around her home, asking, “Humphrey, where are you?” They still do not know where he is being held, what has happened to him, or if he is even still alive. 

Before he disappeared, Humphrey had become an outspoken critic of the Tanzanian government, speaking publicly about restrictions on civic space, attacks on political opponents and human rights violations. Away from politics, he devoted time to supporting young people and vulnerable members of his community.
