The US Must Abolish ICE
Tell the US government to abolish the immigration agency ICE.
What’s the problem?
Amnesty International has documented a wide range of human rights violations committed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Border Patrol and other federal agents in the USA for decades and now during the Trump administration against migrants, asylum seekers, refugees, racialized communities, and those who defend them.
Communities are living in fear. People have been killed, families terrorized, and neighborhoods flooded with masked agents acting with no accountability. Hundreds of thousands of people have been arbitrarily detained and many deported.
Abuses by ICE and other agencies include racial discrimination, arbitrary arrests and detention, harassment, intimidation, unlawful use of force, surveillance, repression of peaceful protests, and possible torture and enforced disappearance. These actions all target migrants, racialized communities, and those who defend them.
The fact that these violations occurred repeatedly in different parts of the United States shows that far from isolated incidents, these are part of a broader pattern by immigration enforcement.
What can you do to help?
Call on the United States Congress to immediately abolish ICE and instead create an immigration system based on human rights.
