There is concern at allegations that on 20 January 1996 Nijazi Maliqi, a 33-year-old unemployed ethnic Albanian from Gnjilane in Kosovo province, was beaten and otherwise ill-treated by police at Gnjilane police station. Amnesty International is calling for a full and impartial investigation into the incident.
