This handbook is intended to enable Amnesty International members, groups and networks to get involved in promoting and defending the human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people. It defines lesbian and gay rights within the context of international standards, looks at the global lesbian and gay rights movement and AI’s role in promoting these rights. The second section of the handbook concentrates on practical ways in which AI can develop its own activism and form links with other groups. The appendix contains AI’s recommendations for the protection of human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people.
