Statement on the occasion of the 33rd annual meeting of the Chairpersons of the human rights treaty bodies

Amnesty International submitted this statement to the 33rd annual meeting of the treaty body Chairpersons. It highlights concerns about civil society participation in the meetings of the Chairpersons, the need for the treaty body system to set out criteria for how to address the backlog of reviews caused by the pandemic, and urges the treaty bodies to move forward as a system and to establish predictable calendars and align working methods.
